About
The Lakas Project is simply about the strength to re/educate ourselves. The strength to seperate ourselves from cultural myths and to define what is a “Filipino”. While we cannot change our history, we can learn from it and act upon it.
The shirts (coming soon)
I was at the Fiesta Filipina Festival in June of 2007 to celebrate “Philippine Independence” day and saw all the cute Filipino shirts. There was an overflow of “Maganda ako”, “Hella Pinoy”, Rizal and Manny Pacquiao merchandise. I wanted some “Filipino” shirts to wear but couldn’t find any that I liked. The “I eat adobo” shirts and Pinoy versions of Old Navy designs didn’t do anything for me. I didn’t find what I wanted so I decided to make some of my own.
